Team Russia Completes the fleet in Cochin

Andreas Hanakamp and his men onboard Kosatka Team Russia finally made it to the finish of leg two of the Volvo Ocean Race in Cochin when they crossed the line at 1323 GMT (1853 local time), after being at sea for 18 days, 2 hours 3 minutes and 30 seconds (elapsed time 18:02:03:30).

Fishing Nets Slow Russians’ Progress

Close Finish For Puma, Delta Lloyd And Green Dragon

After a terrific battle in the final stages of leg two of the Volvo Ocean Race from Cape Town, South Africa, to Cochin in India, where three boats were in sight of each other today, Ken Read/USA emerged the victor and brought the red and black PUMA across the finish today at 1222 GMT (1802 local time) in fifth place.

Telefónica Black Takes Fourth Place

Fernando Echávarri from Spain brought Telefónica Black into Cochin, India, in fourth place on leg two of the Volvo Ocean Race, earning five points, which when added to their scoring gate total of 1.5 points, brings their total to 13.5 and sixth place on the overall leaderboard.  The team was second in the in-port race in Alicante, but last on the first leg of the race from Alicante to Cape Town after suffering damage.

Podium Finish For Ericsson 3

Ericsson 3 (Anders Lewander/SWE) has filled the third podium position for the 4450 nm leg two of the Volvo Ocean Race to Cochin, India.  The team spent the final 24 hours of the leg almost drifting, choosing to activate their StealthPlay in order to keep their position secret and prevent the chasing pack from sailing round them while they were becalmed.

Telefónica Blue Takes Second Podium Position

It was smiles all round today when the Spanish Telefónica Blue team, led by Bouwe Bekking from the Netherlands, finished leg two of the Volvo Ocean Race in Cochin at 1237 GMT (1807 local time).  The victory is all the more sweeter as the team had a tortuous 4450 nm leg from Cape Town, which took them 15 days, one hour, 17 minutes and 50 seconds (elapsed time 15:01:17:50), in which they were dogged by serious damage to their daggerboard.
